Pantelleria, an appeal from the world of Sicilian wine

The world of Sicilian wine embraces Pantelleria and those producers of wine who, a heroic group by their very nature, have always believed in its beauty and in its unique character. Over the last few days, raging fires have severely tested the production of wine, the entire system of welcome for visitors, nature, and the landscape. After these events, Francesco Ferreri, the president of Assovini Sicilia, the important group of Sicilian wineries, now launches an appeal for the protection and safeguarding of Pantelleria, an island ferrerimareBNwhich constitutes a patrimony of absolute value: “as parents, we have moral obligations towards our children. But, as Sicilians, we have a moral obligation towards everyone. We have a millennia-old history and culture which the entire world admires, but we are also the custodians of a natural patrimony of a universal and inestimable value. Pantellera has made of its natural beauty a source of well being and development. The drama we are living through in these days forces the institutions, the active forces in the field, and the citizens, each exercising his own proper role, to make every effort to protect these places and sites, this patrimony. It is an interest of supreme importance”.
